A man accused of threatening to kill a woman and telling her he would bury her in the Mourne Mountains has been released on bail.

The defendant, whose identity was not disclosed in court, is alleged to have made the threats during an incident for which further details have not been made public.

A district judge granted the bail application but issued a firm warning, telling the man he would be given “one chance, and one chance only” to comply with conditions.

The judge did not outline the specific bail conditions or the full circumstances of the alleged offence.

The Mourne Mountains are a granite mountain range in County Down.

No plea was recorded and no further information about the alleged victim was released.

The accused is due to appear in court again at a later date.
