Construction continues on the £370 million Strule Shared Education Campus in Omagh on the site of the former Lisanelly Army barracks. The facility will accommodate more than 4,000 students when fully operational.

Arvalee School and Resource Centre operates there now. Omagh CBS, Loreto Grammar, Omagh Academy, Sacred Heart College and Omagh High School will join in September 2028.

The Department for Education holds ongoing consultations with local schools on signage for shared areas. A department spokesperson stated that signage design remains under development.

Each school will decide languages for signage inside its own building, including branding and logos. Decisions on shared spaces will occur jointly to support each school's identity, ethos and values.

The department conducted extensive engagement over the past year, including public surveys with almost 1,000 responses, presentations to school and community groups, and site visits.

Omagh Sinn Féin councillor Barry McElduff raised local support for Irish language inclusion with the department. He described Irish as central to shared heritage and future, noting a revival in Omagh and Tyrone.

Local GAA official Conor Sally highlighted the need for Irish on campus signage at a meeting of Irish language organisations under the council’s Dáil na Gaeilge initiative.
