Planning permission has been granted for 19 new homes in the Edenderry hamlet outside Omagh.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council approved the application from local firm Scott and Ewing to erect eight pairs of semi-detached houses and two detached homes on Edenderry Road, with direct access to the Donaghanie Road. The site already had live permission for 10 houses.

A planning statement submitted by the applicants said the scheme would provide quality accommodation and would be softened by planting. It argued the development would reinforce a sense of community and the area’s identity, and that Edenderry could absorb the new homes while retaining its character.

NI Water had previously withdrawn objections to the plans. In correspondence to the council, the utility said it had assessed the location and would not raise an objection on grounds of incompatible development, concluding that the proposed population would not be adversely affected.

The application was first lodged in 2023. Edenderry, situated between Omagh and Beragh, has seen several dozen new homes built in recent years.
