Enniskillen RNLI Rescues Two People from Vessel on Lower Lough Erne
Enniskillen RNLI launched its inshore lifeboat, the Ted Dawber, just before 5pm on Thursday. Belfast Coastguard requested the launch to assist a vessel with two people onboard on Lower Lough Erne.
The volunteer crew located the vessel close to Lusty Beg Island. The boat had electrical issues. The two people onboard were safe and well. Winds were south easterly, Force 3, with good visibility.
The helm decided to tow the vessel to a safe mooring at Muckross Bay. Lough Erne Coastguard team assisted the two people onshore.
The lifeboat returned to station, ready for service.
Stephen Ingram, Enniskillen RNLI Helm, advised boat users to carry out regular maintenance on vessels and have a means of calling for assistance. He said to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard if in difficulties on the water.
