Strabane Man Fined for Punching Brother Over Family Will Dispute
Derek McNeilly, 48, of Keery Road in Strabane, admitted assaulting his brother on January 31 at their mother's house. He also admitted criminal damage to a pair of spectacles.
The brother reported to police that McNeilly entered the house and punched him, breaking his glasses. The incident stemmed from family allegations linked to their father's will after his death.
McNeilly went to the house to discuss the matter. Defence counsel Sean Doherty stated the client fully admitted the charges and expressed remorse. Doherty noted the client deeply regretted the out-of-character act.
Derry court fined McNeilly £200 and ordered him to pay £100 compensation for the glasses.
