Derry Man Fined for Assault and Threats Over Neighbour Noise Dispute
Ryan McShane, 48, from Rosses Gate, appeared at Derry court charged with assaulting a female neighbour and threatening to damage property. The incidents took place on March 21.
McShane lives above the woman involved. Police received a report at around 6pm that he was banging on her door and threatening to break the windows.
The woman stated McShane cited noise from the previous night as his reason. He then attempted to force entry into the address, causing her fear of assault.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman noted tension between the residents. He stated McShane had no plan to follow through on the threats and called the event isolated.
The court fined McShane £125. It also imposed a three-month sentence suspended for 12 months and a 12-month restraining order.
