Dog Ears, a Derry-based animation studio, has released its new series My Brother the Minotaur on Apple TV. The show became available on April 24.

The series follows a young minotaur raised in the human world. With his human brother, he gathers friends to explore his origins and confront opposing forces. Production involved Cartoon Saloon and funding from Northern Ireland Screen.

Donal Mangan created the series while animating on Dog Ears' Puffin Rock. Maurice Joyce directed it, Mark Hodkinson wrote it, and Christian Henson composed the score.

Voice actors include Michael Sheen, Brian Cox, Paul Kaye, T’Nia Miller, Ely Solan, Billy Jenkins, Luciana Akpobaro, and Billie Boullet.

John McDaid, Creative Director at Dog Ears, said the project began with Mangan's early notebook concept. He noted the path from initial idea to Apple TV approval resembled a fairytale. McDaid credited Northern Ireland Screen funding and the Cartoon Saloon partnership.

Dog Ears recruited locally in Derry and the North West for production roles. McDaid expressed pride in the casting and the joyful collaboration process.
