Omagh Cystic Fibrosis Campaigner Claire Bresnahan Dies Aged in Her 50s
Claire Bresnahan of Omagh died on March 12. She lived with cystic fibrosis from a young age and campaigned to raise awareness of the condition.
Bresnahan served as treasurer of the Manchester United Supporters Club in Omagh. Club members noted her loyalty and frequent trips to watch matches at Old Trafford and in Europe.
She leaves behind her husband Seán and four children: Pearse, Aóife, Aleisha and Eiméar. She was sister to Steven, Jonathan and Jason, and daughter of the late Francis Hugh and Rosalind.
Liam McHugh of Castlederg campaigned with Bresnahan for cystic fibrosis drugs. He recalled her speaking at a protest outside Belfast City Hall and contributing to efforts that secured the medications.
Her funeral took place at Sacred Heart Church in Omagh on March 15. She was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Drumragh.
