Funeral Arrangements Confirmed for Kilkeel Woman in Newry Road Collision
Aoife Tinnelly, 24, from Kilkeel, died in a two-vehicle collision on Newry Road on April 20. The incident involved a white Audi A1 and a blue Mercedes-Benz and took place shortly before 6.30pm. Emergency services responded to the scene, where Tinnelly was pronounced dead. Two other individuals received hospital treatment for injuries.
Tinnelly was the daughter of Jarlath Tinnelly, an independent councillor on Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. She was the sister of Daire, Odhran and Maisie Tinnelly.
Her family released funeral details. Remains will repose at the family home in Kilkeel on Thursday and Friday from 2pm to 9pm. Removal occurs on Saturday at 10.30am to St Colman's Church, Massforth, for an 11am Requiem Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Detective Inspector Stewart of the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit reported that police received notification of the collision and attended with other emergency services. The Newry Road closed briefly for scene examination but has since reopened.
Police continue to investigate the incident. They request witnesses or those with CCTV, dash-cam or other footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 1288 20/04/26.
