Funeral Set for 11-Year-Old Mason Keilhauer After Fatal Shankill Road Crash
An 11-year-old boy from the Shankill area of Belfast died in hospital after a road traffic collision on Shankill Road. The incident took place near the junction of Dover Street at around 7.25pm on Saturday, 7 March. Police received a report of a grey BMW X5 striking a male pedestrian.
Mason Keilhauer, late of Westway Crescent, was the son of Peter and Michele and brother of Ashton, Lacey, and Freyja. He received hospital treatment following the crash but passed away on Monday.
A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene and released on bail while enquiries continue. Collision Investigation Unit detectives are examining the circumstances.
Shankill Road closed for several hours after the incident but has reopened. Police appeal for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or other footage to contact 101, quoting reference 1365 07/03/26.
Mason's funeral service is scheduled for 12 noon on Monday, 16 March, at Living Hope Church, followed by burial at Redburn Cemetery. The family requests family flowers only, with donations if desired to Little Heroes via Stephen McCosh Funeral Directors at 117-121 Shankill Road.
Forth River Primary School noted Mason was part of the school for six years. Shankill United Football Club plans a minute's silence at weekend games.
