A woman from Bellaghy received a conditional discharge at court for damaging furniture during a family dispute.

Anne Seffen of Rocktown Road damaged two chairs and a small table on February 11, 2024. Police responded to a report of her throwing the items after losing her temper.

The incident followed the death of Seffen's husband in March 2024. The furniture had been stored at her property, and she requested its removal.

District Judge Conor Heaney heard defence submissions that three other people were investigated but only Seffen faced prosecution. The complainant valued the damage at £1,000 while Seffen considered the items worthless.

Judge Heaney linked the case to an unhappy family relationship. He imposed a 14-month conditional discharge and £250 compensation. He rejected a prosecution request for a restraining order.
