A murder investigation is under way after three members of the same family were found dead at a home in Ballymena.

Officers were called to the property on Old Cullybackey Road at around 9am on Monday 13 July, where they discovered the bodies of a male and two females. All three were related and were inside the family residence.

Superintendent William Calderwood, Mid and East Antrim District Commander, said the cause of death has not yet been formally established and post-mortem examinations will be carried out in due course. He asked the public to avoid speculation.

He said police do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public and they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Forensic officers remain at the scene collecting evidence, including CCTV and doorbell recordings from neighbouring properties. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended but no one was taken to hospital.

North Antrim MP Jim Allister described the deaths as a tragedy and expressed condolences to the family. Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan and Alliance MLA Sian Mulholland also offered sympathy and urged anyone with information to contact the police.
