Belfast Hosts 11th Annual March of Life Despite Cold Weather
Belfast held its 11th March of Life event on Sunday afternoon. Around 100 participants took part despite freezing rain. The walk started at Jaffe Fountain outside Victoria Square and ended at Belfast City Hall for a public memorial.
March of Life Director Mike McNally stated that Christian, Jewish, and other communities in Northern Ireland united for the occasion. He noted positive feedback to videos of the event shared on YouTube and Instagram.
Attendees included Deputy Lord Lieutenant The Very Reverend Dr Frank Sellar, High Sheriff of Belfast Alderman Frank McCoubrey, Lord Peter Weir, Jim Shannon MP, Rev Alan Cobain of the 38th Irish Brigade, and Pastor John Ahern of All Nations Church in Dublin.
Participants carried flags from various European nations during the walk.
At City Hall, McNally addressed the meaning of remembering six million murdered Jews in 2026 amid current threats to Jewish life from anti-semitism. The programme featured a reading of names, candle lighting, and songs with piano accompaniment.
The global March of Life movement started in 2007 as a memorial at Dachau and now covers over 25 nations and 450 cities.
