Lisburn Council Approves £60m Integrated Education Campus
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's Planning Committee approved plans for a £60 million integrated education campus at the Fort Hill site in Lisburn. The project combines Fort Hill Integrated College, Fort Hill Integrated Primary School, and a nursery unit.
The campus will serve up to 850 post-primary students along with primary and nursery pupils. It includes facilities for children with special educational needs.
Construction and fit-out phases will create about 120 jobs in the local area.
Councillor Gretta Thompson, who chaired the meeting, welcomed the approval as a step that provides modern facilities for pupils of all ages and supports integrated education in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area.
Alderman James Tinsley, Planning Committee Chair, stated the development offers state-of-the-art facilities for pupils and staff while aiding community growth. He thanked council officers, agents, and statutory agencies for their efficient work on the application.
The project fits with the council's Local Development Plan to support sustainable growth and essential infrastructure.
