Terry O'Neill from Belfast's New Lodge area died on Easter Sunday. His funeral Mass occurred on Friday morning at St Patrick's Church in Donegall Street. He was born on 12 November 1962 to Rose and Terry O'Neil and had brothers Paul, Jim and Liam.

Parish Priest Fr Francis O'Brien addressed mourners at the Mass. He noted O'Neill's talent for music and self-taught skills on guitar, tin whistle, bagpipes and piano. O'Neill formed the Jim O'Neill Robert Allsop flute band in 1976 or 1977 with local youth. He played in a band with Bik McFarlane, Manuel McFarlane and Tony McCann.

O'Neill married Doreen in 1982 at St Malachy's Church. They had four children: Paula, Brendan and twins Orfhlaith and Aoife. He engaged in community work in the New Lodge from a young age and helped organise the New Lodge Fleadh festival yearly.

O'Neill acted with a West Belfast production company called Doublejoint. He performed in a one-man show titled Paddy On The Road about Christy Moore's life, touring Ireland, Europe and New York. The show earned an Aisling Award. A French film crew produced an hour-long documentary on him in 1992.

Gerry Adams and Pat Sheehan MLA attended the funeral. O'Neill was buried at the City Cemetery after the Mass.
