Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's Planning and Regulatory Committee approved a planning application for a viewing gallery at Bourneview Mill FC in Portadown.

The application covers a small partially glazed building in front of the club's existing changing facilities on Tandragee Road. A covered walkway will connect the new structure to the changing rooms.

Principal Planning Officer Roisin Hamill stated that the development supports the retention and enhancement of the club's facilities and provides covered viewing for the playing fields.

She noted that the scale, design, layout, and materials fit the area's character and the development's purpose. The structures will not dominate views from nearby public points.

Environmental Health confirmed no unacceptable impacts on nearby residents. DfI Roads raised no concerns about access or parking.

Four letters of objection cited concerns over the application's details, need, noise, parking, and potential building use. Officers considered these issues and recommended approval with conditions.

Committee chair Councillor Kevin Savage welcomed the proposal for offering spectator comfort and supporting the club's ambition.

Councillor Peter Lavery called it a modest addition useful for senior citizens and those with disabilities, noting the access ramp.

Councillor Scott Armstrong described it as a valuable asset for the club and public users. Councillor Kyle Moutray said it balanced all concerns and proposed approval, seconded by Councillor Armstrong.
