Northern Ireland Schools Urged to Register for ESB Science Blast by March 20
Schools in Northern Ireland can register Key Stage 2 pupils for ESB Science Blast until Friday, March 20. Participating classes will showcase projects at an event on Tuesday, May 5 at ICC Belfast.
The programme targets Primary 7 pupils and involves whole classes exploring science topics such as forces, motion, biodiversity and material reactions. Pupils ask questions, test ideas and present findings.
ESB Science Blast forms part of the Royal Dublin Society Science and Technology Programme, with ESB as title sponsor. It emphasises participation over competition.
Since its start in 2010, the initiative has involved more than 90,000 pupils. RDS CEO Paul Kelly stated the programme supports critical thinking and problem-solving for innovation.
ESB chief executive Paddy Hayes said the event encourages students to question their surroundings and engage with STEM subjects.
The Belfast showcase will gather schools from Northern Ireland to display their projects.
