The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service recorded 302 house fires in the Foyle constituency between 2021 and 2025. Of those, 59 were determined to have been started deliberately.

In East Derry, the service logged 210 house fires over the same period, with 59 deliberate. West Tyrone saw 195 house fires, 39 of which were deliberate.

Health Minister Mike Nesbitt released the figures in response to a question from DUP MLA Michelle McIlveen.

Across Northern Ireland, the service attended 4,340 house fires from 2021 to 2025, including 855 deliberate cases.

Four deaths from house fires occurred in Derry between 2020 and 2024. One death took place in West Tyrone. No deaths were reported in East Derry.

The eight deaths across Northern Ireland involved exposure to uncontrolled fires in buildings or structures, as noted on death certificates.
