A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and firearms offences following a shooting in west Belfast in February 2025. He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The charges relate to an incident on the morning of 23 February, when a 49-year-old man was shot while sitting inside a taxi in the Bell Steel Manor area of Dunmurry.

Police arrested the suspect in the Springfield Road area in the early hours of Wednesday under the Terrorism Act. He was taken to Musgrave serious crime suite for questioning.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the man was later charged with attempted murder and a number of firearms offences. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

In a separate operation, a 29-year-old man was charged with illegal entry into the UK and obstructing police following a targeted operation by the PSNI's Public Protection Branch on Wednesday. He is due before Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday. Three others arrested during the operation - aged 41, 50 and 45 - were released on bail pending further enquiries.
