Coleraine founder of NI Disability Pool receives first Hall of Fame honour
A Coleraine man has been recognised as the first inductee into the Hall of Fame for disability pool in Northern Ireland.
Trevor Harte received the honour during the annual NI Disability Pool Festival in Coleraine. This year's event was his final festival as a founding member.
Harte helped found the organisation in 1993 alongside Robert Black, when it was known as NI Special Pool. The first tournament took place in Portrush with 32 invited players.
The festival has since grown to welcome nearly 200 players from across Northern Ireland in 2026.
Harte also contributed to the development of learning disability pool across the UK and in other countries, including Wales, Scotland, England, Southern Ireland and Gibraltar.
Stephen Partridge, chairperson of EBA Learning Disabilities, presented the certificate during the opening ceremony.
NI Disability Pool paid tribute to Harte's legacy, highlighting the difference he has made in people's lives over more than three decades.
