Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has launched a public consultation on route options for the Bellarena to Bishop's Gate Greenway, part of the Department for Infrastructure's Active Travel Signature Scheme. The consultation opened on 29 September 2026 and will run until 31 October 2026.

The proposed greenway aims to improve opportunities for walking, wheeling, and cycling between Bellarena, Magilligan, and Downhill in County Londonderry. Route options can be viewed online via the Department for Infrastructure website or in person at a drop-in event at Magilligan Community Centre on 29 September between 2pm and 7pm.

Minister Kimmins noted that feedback on the overall scheme has been positive, with 93% of respondents supporting the ambition of delivering a new greenway following a public engagement event in March 2026. The Department has used that feedback to identify potential route options and is now seeking views to help select a preferred route.
