Public engagement on the Newry Inner City Greenway Active Travel Signature Scheme will begin on 8 October 2026.

The Department for Infrastructure confirmed that Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced the start of the early engagement period. The scheme aims to improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists through Newry by providing safer, more accessible and attractive active travel infrastructure. It is intended to link communities with key destinations and encourage healthier and more sustainable travel choices.

Minister Kimmins said the Department is keen to understand any opportunities and local issues. She encouraged people to give their views and help shape the future development of the scheme.

Details of the proposals can be viewed online on the Department's website. A drop-in event will be held at Newry Leisure Centre, 60 Cecil Street, Newry, BT35 6AU, from 1pm to 7pm on Thursday 8 October 2026.

Views may be submitted between 9.00 am on 8 October 2026 and 5.00 pm on 5 November 2026 via the consultation page on the Department's website.
