Bryan Gallagher, a teacher, broadcaster and author from Derrylin, County Fermanagh, has died at the age of 91.

He died on Thursday, July 23. His funeral was held on Monday in Enniskillen, where hundreds of mourners gathered. People travelled from across Ireland and beyond to attend.

Mr Gallagher was a former primary and secondary school principal. He led St Mary's Primary School in Mullymesker, became the founding principal of St Aidan's in Derrylin, and later served as principal of St Joseph's College in Enniskillen.

He was awarded a scholarship to Queen's University Belfast as a teenager, but was considered too young to take it up at the age of 15.

In later life, he became a familiar voice on radio. He presented reflections on everyday life on BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio 4 and RTÉ. His broadcasts led to a series of bestselling books.

He lived in Derrylin, and his connection to Fermanagh endured throughout his life. He is survived by his children and grandchildren.
