Paddy Gallagher of Drumquin Dies Aged in Tyrone
Paddy Gallagher from Drumquin, County Tyrone, died at his home on April 9. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
Gallagher took part in a world record attempt with 64 threshing machines in 2004. A family member stated that he remained committed to threshing traditions throughout his life alongside others including Eddie McCaffrey.
At his Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Drumquin, Fr Thomas Canning described Gallagher as a good father dedicated to his family. Canning noted that Gallagher received strong family support during his long illness.
Fr Canning said Gallagher saw the good in everyone and built bridges that united people. He called Gallagher a man of peace with skill in dealing positively with others.
Gallagher worked as a joiner and constructed a stone seat at Jackie’s Cross on Tattysallagh Road near his birthplace. Fr Canning said the seat served as a gathering spot for locals after work.
Following the Mass, Gallagher was buried in the graveyard of St Patrick’s Church, Drumquin.
