A support worker from Tandragee has been recognised for her personalised approach to caring for adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Lynsey Anderson received the Support Worker Award in the independent category at the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards. The ceremony was held on 10 June at the Hilton Hotel.

Ms Anderson, aged 31, was inspired to enter the care sector by a family member with autism. She has spent a decade supporting individuals with learning difficulties and began offering private care in 2025 to address gaps in adult services.

Her work centres on building strong relationships with families and organising community-based social activities. These include cinema outings, seasonal celebrations, sensory room visits, and tours of the Tayto factory. She also takes clients for coffee, gym sessions, and walks with her dog Nala, which has helped some individuals overcome a fear of dogs.

The awards judges said her collaborative methods ensured that the voices of those she supports and their families were heard. They highlighted the trust she built and the meaningful progress her clients made.

Families of those she cares for posted congratulations on social media, praising her kindness and commitment.
