Five members of Bangor Netball Club represented Northern Ireland at the ENG Home Nations Cup Finals in England last weekend.

Four primary school pupils from the club - Maria McQuillan, Holly Milliken, Shelby Skelton and Charlotte Law - helped their team to a bronze medal in the primary section of the tournament. Skelton was awarded the Most Valuable Player prize for her performances throughout the competition.

Eva Howells, a Year 8 student at the club, played in the junior section. Her team did not finish among the medallists but gained experience against opponents from across the home nations.

The finals brought together young netballers from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Participants qualified through ENG competition workshops, where they registered as individuals and trained under elite coaches before being placed on teams for match play.

Bangor Netball Club head coach Shannon Garvan said the club was proud of the five players' hard work and commitment. She noted the progress they had made since joining the club and the confidence, skill and understanding they had developed.
