Department of Health seeks optometrist to chair Ophthalmic Committee
The Department of Health is seeking to appoint an experienced optometrist to chair the Ophthalmic Committee of the Business Services Organisation (BSO).
The role is for an initial four-year term, with the possibility of reappointment, and requires about ten days of work per year.
The chair, who must be a practising ophthalmic optician with at least five years' experience, will be paid £290 per day, plus travel and other allowances in line with Health and Social Care rates.
The BSO's Ophthalmic Committee advises and assists the BSO and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) in delivering general ophthalmic services across Northern Ireland.
The successful candidate must demonstrate previous committee work experience and involvement in optometric service development at a regional or national level. They must also be registered with the General Optical Council and engaged in providing general ophthalmic services in Northern Ireland.
The role involves regular meetings with the Assistant Director for Family Practitioner Services within the BSO, and liaison with the Head of Ophthalmic Services at the SPPG and Department of Health.
