Police showcase expanded neighbourhood teams to Coleraine partners
The PSNI held a community engagement event in Coleraine on 16 October, bringing together local organisations and the district's neighbourhood policing teams. The event provided an opportunity for partners to meet their local officers, sergeants, inspectors, and members of the senior leadership team.
The meeting followed an increase in officer numbers across Neighbourhood Policing Teams in the district, intended to boost visible presence and enhance opportunities for officers to engage with residents about local concerns.
Attendees were briefed on the role of neighbourhood policing teams, current local policing priorities, and the importance of partnership working in addressing community issues.
District Commander Superintendent Yvonne McManus outlined the approach, saying the teams aim to be visible, accessible, and connected to the communities they serve. She noted the event gave partners direct access to officers working in their areas to discuss issues affecting their communities.
McManus added that the strengthened teams would continue proactive engagement with residents, community representatives, and partner organisations. She described listening to concerns and working together as central to preventing crime, protecting people, and building safer communities.
Feedback from attendees was positive, with partners describing the event as informative and useful for putting names to faces, strengthening working relationships, and identifying clear points of contact within local policing teams. McManus said the event is planned to become an annual engagement opportunity.
