Needles linked to drug use were found in a car park in Limavady, County Londonderry, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting removal by police and a warning about the dangers to children.

A police spokesperson confirmed that officers disposed of the syringes, which were discovered in a parking area on Main Street. The discarded items were described as a particular risk to younger children who might not recognise the hazard.

The find follows a similar incident last week, when drug paraphernalia was located near a children’s play area in the nearby village of Ballykelly.

Jordan Wallace, a Limavady resident, said those responsible were endangering members of the public. He said the problem is worsening and the behaviour is not welcome in the community.

The PSNI stated that they will continue high-visibility patrols and use every method available to disrupt and arrest those involved in drug supply. The force urged anyone using needles to consider the consequences of discarding them carelessly.
