Man sentenced for dog attack on child in south Belfast
Lucas Bjorkman-Loney was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court on 2 June 2025 of an offence under the Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983 after his pointer-type dog attacked a child.
The court heard the dog escaped from Bjorkman-Loney’s home at Broomhill Park in south Belfast in June 2024 and bit a five-year-old boy on the leg in the street.
Belfast City Council prosecuted the case. The court fined Bjorkman-Loney £750 and ordered him to pay £500 in compensation to the victim, plus £132 in legal and court costs, totalling £1,382.
