A Belfast man has been ordered to pay £1,382 after his dog attacked a child in the street.

Lucas Bjorkman-Loney of Broomhill Park was fined £750 at Belfast Magistrates Court on 2 June 2025.

The court also imposed a £500 compensation order and £132 in legal and court costs.

The incident occurred on 27 June 2025 when the pointer-type dog escaped from premises at Broomhill Park and injured a five-year-old boy on the leg.

Belfast City Council brought the prosecution under Article 29(2) of The Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983.

Mr Bjorkman-Loney was convicted of allowing the dog to attack and injure the child.
