Paul Quinn of Collinbridge Road in Newtownabbey received a £200 fine at Belfast Magistrates Court on 3 March 2026 for an offence where his dog attacked another.

Belfast City Council prosecuted Quinn after his collie-type dog, walked without a lead, injured a labradoodle in the car park at Belfast Zoo on 20 March 2025.

The labradoodle suffered wounds to its shoulder and stomach.

Quinn must also pay £130 in legal and court costs plus £100 in compensation to the owner of the injured dog.

Under Northern Ireland's dog control rules, owners face penalties if their animals attack others in public spaces.
