A woman from Portadown has been committed for trial at Craigavon Crown Court on charges of non-fatal strangulation, making threats to kill and assault.

Joanna Kitta, of Ballybay Avenue, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court for a preliminary enquiry. She faces three charges relating to an incident on February 9 involving another woman.

Kitta confirmed she understood the charges but offered no response. District Judge Michael Ranaghan ordered the case to proceed to Crown Court, with arraignment scheduled for June 30.

Kitta was released on continuing bail. Legal aid for counsel at the Crown Court stage was granted on request of her barrister Aaron Thompson.
