Minister Submits Good Jobs Bill to Executive
Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald submitted the Good Jobs Bill to the Executive on 28 May.
The legislation proposes a right for zero-hours workers to move to a banded hours contract, with zero-hours contracts retained only where work is genuinely casual or seasonal.
It also requires that tips and service charges are passed in full to workers.
Additional provisions include paid neonatal care leave, unpaid carer's leave, reform of paternity leave, and stronger redundancy protections for pregnant employees and those returning from family-related leave.
West Belfast MP Paul Maskey said the Bill will address exploitative contracts and insecure working practices in sectors such as hospitality, care homes and retail.
He urged all parties to support the Bill so it can proceed to the Assembly.
Archibald described the package as the most significant employment reforms in a generation.
