Northern Ireland artists secure international funding for five projects
Five Northern Ireland projects have been awarded funding under the latest round of the Four Nations International Fund.
The grants support artist-led collaborations between UK nations and partners in 37 countries. Awards reach up to £7,500, drawn from a total fund of £335,000.
Off The Rails Dance will lead ROOTS: Global Echoes in the Biome. The project partners with the Eden Project and PLAYGROUND to develop a dance-theatre residency inside the Eden Project's Tropical Biome.
Wendy Blemings will run Shore to Shore: A Celtic Conversation. The residency in Belfast will bring together artists from Northern Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Ireland to examine the Celtic Sea as a shared cultural space.
Gawain Morrison will direct Lifecycle. The project studies fungi and related organisms with partners in England, Spain, North Macedonia and Ukraine to inform visual art, textiles, sound and performance.
University of Atypical will lead Beyond Vision Creative Hub. The programme connects blind and visually impaired artists through online forums and a networking event at Bounce Festival, in partnership with Quiplash and Tanzhaus.
Spark Opera will conduct a week of research and development on the opera USHER. The team includes Belfast-based director Kate Guelke and will work with composer Annelies Van Parys and Ireland-based singers.
