Dromore Man Fined for Driving Uninsured Mercedes
A Dromore man appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court after being stopped by police while driving an uninsured vehicle.
Paul Shields, 44, of Cambric Court, Dromore, was charged with using a motor vehicle without insurance.
Police observed the white Mercedes C220 on Bridge Street in Lisburn at 7:50pm on 1 July 2025.
Checks confirmed the vehicle had no insurance cover at the time.
Shields told officers he believed the car was covered under his employer's trade motor insurance policy.
Further checks with AXA showed that the policy did not extend to Shields driving his personal vehicle.
A defence lawyer explained that the vehicle was being transferred to the employer, which would have placed it under the policy.
District Judge Rosie Watters imposed a fine of £250 and endorsed the defendant's licence with six penalty points.
