Stephen Nolan earns £405,000 as a BBC broadcaster in 2024-25. He ranks seventh among the corporation's top paid presenters. Nolan holds the only regional position on that list.

The salary exceeds that of former BBC Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg by £10,000. It excludes income from his production company, Third Street Studios.

BBC plans to cut 1,800 to 2,000 jobs to save £500 million due to financial pressures.

Nolan, aged 52 and from a working-class estate in Northern Ireland, stated he receives little public criticism over his pay. He expressed pride in his background and said he aims to succeed and earn well.

He noted that people on the street mostly joke about his salary rather than resent it.

Nolan presents a new BBC One series, Peelers: The PSNI For Real, which airs on April 27. The programme follows PSNI officers dealing with drug dealers, stolen cars, and hostile crowds over two years.

Nolan described the experience as the most profound in his career. He said it showed the impact of crime on victims and left him unable to sleep some nights.
