Health Minister Mike Nesbitt launched the 'This is our health' programme on April 29 at the Lesley Abbeycentre in Newtownabbey. The initiative invites public input to shape health and social care services across Northern Ireland.

Nesbitt met members of the public during the launch to collect their views. The programme runs until the end of June in every county. Health and Social Care Trusts, the Public Health Agency, and community groups organise events.

People can join online or attend in-person drop-in sessions. The online platform at thisisourhealth.org.uk allows quick anonymous responses via personal devices. In-person events use interactive tools like joystick-operated displays.

The programme supports Nesbitt's Reset Plan, with emphasis on prevention and shifting people to active roles in their health. It seeks a health and care deal that outlines public expectations and contributions to services.

Confirmed events include the Belfast City Marathon on May 3 2026, Balmoral Show from May 13 to 16 2026, and Foyle Maritime Festival from June 25 to 28 2026. Queries about events go to thisisourhealth@hscni.net.

Nesbitt stated the approach addresses limited resources, rising demand, and complex care needs. Public feedback will identify ways to stay healthy longer and protect services.
