The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, welcomed pupils from St Patrick’s Primary School and Nursery in Castlederg to the Guildhall.

The pupils travelled to the Guildhall for the visit. Cllr McHugh greeted them there. The group learned about his civic role and responsibilities as part of their studies on local government and community life.

Cllr McHugh presented to Primary 7 pupils Abbie and Aoife to recognise their engagement. He spoke with the group, including pupil Amelia O’Loan.

Principal Brian McGurk, Vice-Principal Adrian Doherty, and Primary 7 teacher Shauna McHugh accompanied the pupils.

Cllr McHugh stated that the pupils showed great interest in council operations. He noted that the visit offered insight into civic life and the role of local government in communities.
