Councillor Grace Ui Niallais of Sinn Fein has been appointed Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Councillor Catherine McDaid of the SDLP has been appointed Deputy Mayor.

Both appointments were confirmed at the council's annual general meeting held at the Guildhall on Monday.

The Mayor will be supported in the role by the Deputy Mayor.
