Derry City and Strabane District Council installed a new mayor and deputy mayor at its annual general meeting on Monday.

Sinn Fein councillor Grace Ui Niallais took up the role of mayor, succeeding the previous officeholder. She will be supported in the role by deputy mayor Catherine McDaid of the SDLP.

The meeting was held at the Guildhall in Derry.

Both appointments were confirmed by the council on Monday.
