Courts: Suspended sentence for man who breached counter-terrorism order as motorist banned over disorder-era police confrontation
BALLYMENA: A 41-year-old motorist who failed to comply with a police officer's direction, failed to stop for police, and drove without due care and attention during a period of disorder in the town in June 2024 was banned from driving for two months and fined £400. Deputy District Judge Brian Archer said the defendant had shown a poor attitude towards police and that his manner of driving had not helped the situation in the town.
NEWTOWNARDS: A 48-year-old Holywood man previously jailed for possessing UDA paraphernalia was handed three-month prison sentences, suspended for three years, after admitting seven charges of breaching a counter-terrorism notification order between November 2023 and June 2025. The breaches included failing to notify police of new bank accounts, a mobile phone number change, a finance agreement, and his release from prison.
