DUP Councillor Secures Street Cleaning Schedules for Causeway Coast Towns
A DUP councillor in Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council obtained detailed street cleaning schedules for four towns following requests from residents.
Darryl Wilson raised the issue at the Environmental Services Committee meeting in March. He noted confusion among constituents in Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Ballycastle over whether regular cleaning routes continued. Wilson contacted depots directly for details.
At the April committee meeting, members received the borough's street cleansing inventory and schedules. The documents outlined a seven-day sweeping programme covering the four towns.
Wilson thanked Aidan McPeake, Director of Environmental Services, for compiling the extensive list in a short time. He stated multiple constituents across the borough had contacted him about the matter.
The councillor acknowledged the borough's large size might leave some areas uncovered initially. He requested quarterly reports to the committee for ongoing oversight.
Wilson explained quarterly updates would confirm completion of listed areas. They would also reveal any operational, staffing or emergency issues diverting resources, aiding in solutions.
