NI Water begins £3.5m upgrade to Coleraine water mains
NI Water has started a £3.5 million upgrade to the water network on Windyhill Road in Coleraine.
The work, expected to last approximately ten months, involves replacing a key water main that supplies drinking water to several local reservoirs.
A lane closure is in place under a temporary traffic light system to keep two-way traffic moving during the construction.
The new main serves the Carthall, Scone Hill, Castlerock Downhill, Toberdornan, Ballylagan and Maddeybenny service reservoirs.
Project manager Anna Delargy said the upgrade will cut the number of bursts and create a more resilient network. She noted the improvement would be particularly valuable during periods of high demand or in emergencies.
