Christopher O’Kane, 58, from Gortinure Road in Maghera, faces a charge of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on a male. The alleged incident occurred on June 28 of last year.

At Magherafelt Magistrates Court on Wednesday, the court clerk confirmed that O’Kane understood the charge. He indicated he had no response to the charge and did not submit a written statement.

A Public Prosecution Service lawyer stated that O’Kane has a prima facie case to answer.

District Judge Conor Heaney granted bail to O’Kane for his arraignment at Londonderry Crown Court on May 13.

The bail includes a condition barring O’Kane from any direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim.
