BALLYMENA: A 43-year-old man appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a meat cleaver as an offensive weapon following an incident in the Ballee area on 23 December 2025. The accused was granted continuing bail and the case was not advanced further at this hearing.
DUNGANNON: A 62-year-old woman who sent a baby doll with its eyes cut out to a relative who had suffered a series of miscarriages was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for two years and made subject to a restraining order for three years. District Judge Francis Rafferty described the act as insidious and wicked, noting the defendant only fully accepted guilt when facing the prospect of immediate custody.
OMAGH: A 33-year-old woman accused of possessing magic mushrooms with intent to supply was left to represent herself after her legal team withdrew from the case, following a publicly funded report that did not support her claim that the substances are legal. The case was adjourned until 28 April when a contest date will be fixed.
STRABANE: A committal hearing in a murder case was halted and adjourned until 14 May after a man was doused with boiling water by an assailant in the courthouse corridor, suffering burns to his face, neck and shoulder. The victim, understood to be a relative of the murder accused, was taken to hospital by ambulance, and police are appealing for information to identify the suspect who fled the scene.
