Liz Doherty retired from her role as an occupational therapist with the Western Trust after 35 years in the profession, including 31 years with the trust. Colleagues attended a farewell party for her in Derry.

Doherty led the Condition Management Programme since 2010. The programme assists participants in Northern Ireland. The Western Trust credited her with strengthening the service and influencing colleagues in the Western Trust, other trusts, and the Department for Communities.

The trust stated that Doherty will be missed by those who worked with her.

In 2024, the Royal College of Occupational Therapists presented Doherty with a special award. She expressed honour at receiving the award and highlighted the lead role of occupational therapy in the Condition Management Programme. Doherty called for further investment to expand the service and support more people.
