The Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, Fermanagh, has reached 50 years of ownership by the Watson family. Archie and Pearl Watson started the business five decades ago. The hotel now operates as a four-star resort with 71 bedrooms.

Jacqueline Wright, daughter of Archie and Pearl, manages the hotel alongside Leigh Watson, her daughter-in-law, and Nicola Varvari, her daughter. Gillian Gray, another daughter, joined the directors recently.

The hotel expanded over the years with additions including a lounge, conference centre, conservatory, and studio. It rebuilt after a bombing incident and replaced chalets with lakeside lodges. A health club and spa were also added.

Declan McGovern has worked at the hotel since 1978, starting as a trainee barman and later becoming bar manager. Pat Kavanagh spent 44 years there. General Manager David Morrison will reach 30 years in June.

Jacqueline Wright stated the family sold a hotel in Armagh to focus on Enniskillen due to better tourism prospects. She noted support from the tourist board and council.

Staff and family credit Pearl Watson's emphasis on resilience for ongoing operations. Jacqueline Wright said continuous reinvestment defined the hotel's growth from 27 rooms, many without bathrooms.

Current plans include improvements to wedding facilities and outdoor areas. The hotel serves leisure visitors exploring Lough Erne and local attractions.
