Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald announced a £3.75m investment from the UK Government's Local Growth Fund for 2025/26 to purchase three buildings in North Belfast. The Department for the Economy collaborated with North City Business Centre on the acquisition.

The sites will expand the North City Business Centre portfolio to nearly 200,000 sq ft. They will offer workspace for new and growing businesses, with emphasis on social economy and community wealth building. Dedicated spaces for community use are also planned.

Dr Archibald stated that the investment supports long-term economic renewal, job creation, and community infrastructure in North Belfast. She noted that local people and businesses will drive future growth through these assets.

David Williamson, Chair of North City Business Centre, confirmed the purchase of the three sites. He said the funding, combined with the centre's capital expenditure, totals significant investment over several years.

Two sites will undergo refurbishment to suit local business needs and attract new enterprises and jobs. The project forms part of the Northern Ireland allocation for Pride in Place via the Local Growth Fund. Total costs are projected at around £8m, with North City Business Centre funding refurbishments and part of the purchases.
