A court in North Belfast convicted an individual for vandalising Glengormley's Orange Arch in a sectarian incident last summer.

On 23 March 2026, the court imposed a four-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years.

North Belfast DUP MLA Phillip Brett welcomed the conviction.

Brett commended Newtownabbey PSNI for identifying the perpetrator and taking the case through the courts.

Brett stated the sentence serves as a warning to those responsible for vandalism on private and public property in Glengormley Town Centre, including the War Memorial.

Brett noted the acts can result in serious personal consequences.

Brett said the Glengormley community does not support such criminal acts of intolerance.
