West Belfast police arrest man after suspected Class A drugs seized
Police in West Belfast arrested a man in his 20s on Monday 12th October after a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs was found during a proactive operation.
The operation began around 4:10pm when officers observed a red Audi Q3 in the Hamill Street area. The vehicle was stopped at Institution Place and searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Police recovered suspected Class A drugs and other items.
A follow-up search at a property in the Glenkeen area led to the seizure of further suspected Class A drugs with an estimated street value of around £2,000, along with other items.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply. He was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Inspector McCann said the operation demonstrated the police service's commitment to tackling the harm caused by illegal drug use and supply in communities. He encouraged anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
