Derry's 'Keep Er Lit Sunshine' Wall Mural Restored by Southampton Artist
A wall in Derry's Brandywell area featuring the message 'Keep Er Lit Sunshine' sustained damage from graffiti. Southampton artist Dave Bonzai visited Derry this week to restore the artwork in collaboration with Féile.
Féile identified the damage over recent months as a chance to refresh the wall while preserving the positive message. Bonzai completed the new design, which retains the original wording.
A Féile spokesperson stated the simple design inspired many residents. The organization noted strong public response to the restored piece.
Bonzai reported positive reactions during the work, including drivers honking and calling out the phrase. He described his time in Derry as enjoyable and praised local people.
Féile's recent 'Graffiti on the Walls' project involved artists Peaball, local schools, and community members. The initiative replaced graffiti with murals in Creggan and Brandywell.
